"Psychotherapy can be one of the greatest and most rewarding adventures, it can bring with it the deepest feelings of personal worth, of purpose and richness in living."

– Eda LeShan

Counselling and Psychotherapy:
More than just a chat with a cuppa....

When you feel a bit lost in life, a warm hand offering help can be life-changing. As your therapist, I

listen and support you to walk through the hard time, and find your way out in this self-exploration journey.

With integrative approach counselling sessions, you would not only have a sort of emotional buffer, but also enhance your toolbox to tackle life's curveballs, get clarity on the muddled thoughts, and perhaps even experience some lightbulb moments.

“You can’t stop the waves,
but you can learn to surf.”

– Joseph Goldstein

Integrative Approach?

It means that you will not only be listened and understood with my non-judgemental attitude in the sessions, you could also equip yourself with some tools and skills to cope with life challenges. Integrative approach provides a combination of different counselling methods such as...

  • Psychoanalysis
  • Person-centred therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy
  • Hypnotherapy

and some more...

Counselling can be preventive, developmental, and remedial at the same time. It is not necessarily only aiming at one purpose. In fact, with the integrative approach we use, you could enhance your coping skills in the future, or prevent you from falling into similar situations again, which is developmental and preventive.

Is counselling only remedial?

What will happen in the counselling room?

There will be 50 minutes in the counselling room completely belonging to you in each session. You can feel safe and choose what to tell me without being judged. Apart from talking therapy, you might also experience some creative ways to express yourself such as stone work, drawing, painting and card work; or be invited to complete some tasks between sessions.

What are NOT counselling and psychotherapy?

Not talking to a friend

In the context of therapy, it is essential to understand that a counsellor is not your friend; rather, they are a trained professional dedicated to helping you navigate your thoughts and emotions. This distinction is crucial as it establishes a helping relationship grounded in clear, ethical boundaries.

Not talking to a guru or adviser

While I will listen actively, I am not a life coach nor advisor who can give you resolutions directly to your life challenges. We are here to listen and walk with you throughout the process, to clarify how you think and feel, to see your footprints in the past, present life, and what picture you want to have in the future.

Not Magic

Change would not happen overnight. This journey might take some time to reach its destination. Therefore, your engagement and commitment are very significant if you want a change!

Not A Substitute for other Professions

If you require medical intervention and diagnosis, seeking help from a qualified psychiatrist, clinical psychologist or GP is essential. Therapy is there to complement your journey, not hijack it or take the place of actual mental health care.

The counselling journey can be exciting and painful at the same time though,

I, as a counsellor, am always here to be with you if you need me.

It is a chance to grow, learn and heal, which might bring benefits to your future life.
